Don't know if I have said this
before... but I am very blessed. Just another example of this is the
shower my friends threw for me on the 21st of November. It
was a great time of fun and fellowship with friends.
I was so excited to get dressed up for
the night. While we were in Crete, Shawn bought me a beautiful
traditional Greek dress that was actually made in Athens. I had been
saving it to wear to the shower. After work, I came home and got
ready, doing my hair and make-up. It felt nice to get dressed up and
feel pretty. I spend too much time in my PJ's haha.
Beautiful hosts!
After arriving and greeting everyone,
snacks and appetizers began to be served. The lovely ladies hosting
booked the room in a restaurant called Leisure, which is a beautiful
and delicious place. They let me know I could order any food and they
covered for Shawn and I. That was a nice surprise! Of course I got
the nachos... yum!!! We also munched on veggies, hummus, and bread.
Then the games began! The first game we
played was a game where we had to draw a picture of the baby on a
paper plate, but while holding the plate on our head. It was very
funny. Susanne looked in the window to draw hers, but claims she
didn't cheat :)
Can you find Susanne?
The next game we played was all about
candy! Renee read out things about babies, and we had to think of a
candy bar (or sweet for my British friends) to go along with it.
Examples were things like triplets = Three Musketeers, breastfeeding
= Milkyway, and stomach after having a baby= Jelly Bellies. It was
very humorous.
After making me crave candy we played a
game where everyone had to guess the size of my belly with toilet
paper. First, they tore off the toilet paper and then measured it
around my belly. Some people were way too big! There was a four-way
tie so they asked them questions about me and the baby for the
tie-breaker, such as the due date and nursery theme. Samina, my
co-worker, won. It was also her first ever baby shower. Oh, that
reminds me of the last game. When we all arrived we were given a
small clothespin to wear. You were not allowed to say the word baby
all night, and it you did then whoever heard you could take your
clip. I lost some and gained some. Samina kept saying this was her
first hmmmmph shower because she couldn't say the word baby. We all giggled about that.

I am pouting because Shawn took one of my clips
After games we had cake... which was
DELICIOUS and then opened gifts. We received a lot of cute stuff,
especially clothing. I can't wait to see the little man in them.
Although we still need some items, we are so thankful for all we
received. Some other items include diaper bags, carriers, diapers and
wipes, and much more. One very special gift was a hand knitted cap
and booties. Can't wait for him to wear them in his newborn photos!
So, day by day we are closer to getting
ready for our little man. We still need to buy some things such as
bottles, passys, towels, etc... and pretty soon we will be washing all
the clothing and packing our bags. So excited!!!
